ECM preventing car from running?
ECM preventing car from running?
I'm new to the forums and cars in general, but I had a few questions. I got a 1989 RS Camaro from my cousin last year and my dad and I have been trying to get it running, it's been sitting in his garage for the longest time and was in a wreck before he garages it, I replaced the steering column and fuel pump, and I can't start it with the key, I have to jump it from the starter, not sure if it's a vats problem or what I've tried different keys and still hasn't worked but I'm planning on just installing a push button start, anyways I can get it started with the button, and it only stays running for a few seconds before dying I've checked all the fuel components pretty much the entire fuel system, and I don't think its a mechanical problem, could it be the ECM? Please help, Jon

VATs would also disable the fuel, so I'd tend more toward a bad ignition switch or a bad P/N safety switch.
The running for a few seconds and shutting off, sounds like low fuel pressure. Service pressure for a TBI set up is 9 to 13 psi.
