ecm prom change

I have an 89 lb9 and I need to get an ECM. I have looked for them at junk yards but I cant find any that are for a 5 speed. I was wondering if it would be possible to buy an auto ECM and change the prom to a 5 speed, but I dont know if that would work. I am also wondering if there is a difference in proms for the 220Hp and 230Hp 5 speed lb9 and where I could find a prom and how much the parts would cost.

Your ECM is a 7165, which is fairly common, but your EPROM is not. You can go to your local GM Dealer and buy a new one. Stock they are generally around $65 but others claim that if you shop around that you can pick them up for $40.

Since I live in Canada and everything imported is subject to various taxes, brokerage fees and other misc. charges that it makes importing expensive. I guess that's why everything is so damn expensive here.
