Compatible Memcals

91 Z28 vert 305 TPI
7730 AUJP

I put an Ostrich 2.0 in my vert a few months back and managed to crush the memcal when I had it out of the car

I gently stood the limp home chip back up but I know how they DO NOT like to bend. Ever since then, at totally random times, the car cuts out like like you turned off the ignition for just a second then picks right back up. I wouldn't think the limp chip would cause the issue but I'm not sure.

Replacements look to be about $150 but I was hoping to find something cheaper since I'm emulating anyway. I looked for some sort of cross reference for memcals that I could swap but I wasn't able to find anything.

I'm was emulating S_AUJP_v5 but backed down to v4 for testing purposes.

Re: Compatible Memcals

The white board up top is the knock filter. The two small chips under it is the limp mode calibration. Being for a 5.7l engine there aren't too many others that can replace it 1-for-1.

Best bet is to try and salvage the bent MEMCAL. On the knock filter only the four legs that are close together and are adjacent the PROM are used. The others aren't used once placed into an ECM.

Re: Compatible Memcals

It's a 305 not a 350, does that make any difference?

Is there a schematic somewhere that can help me test continuity?

If it doesn't rain, I'm going to grab some logs and see if I can narrow down anything. Thanks!

Yes, the 3.1l cast iron headed engines used a knock filter that is nearly identical. Just need to ground the cylinder select pin for the correct injector firing rate. Can get one from any '90 - '92 3.1l f-body.

Not really. The pins/legs of the chips tie into the socket terminal directly below each one.

Re: Compatible Memcals

If it is truly an AZTY MEMCAL he is selling, yes, like that one. His ad is all goofy. He states it is for a 3.1l '90 - '92 f-body, but then lists it for a 5.7l TPI car. In the description he states to "check out the photo for the actual item."

The photo shows a MEMCAL for a '91 LB9 (5.0l) engine with an auto (ARZU). So I dunno', at the least email him first.
