Custom cam OK for MAP and a '7730 ECM?
Hi everyone,
I'm considering moving my '89 Trans Am from MAF and the '165 ECM to MAP with the '7730 ECM. Before I do I'm wondering if my modified 305 would be controlled better by MAP vs MAF.
I've attached the specs of my camshaft to this thread for people to consider. In addition, I'm running 24pd SVO injectors, the factory heads have slightly larger intake and exhaust valves and 18 thousands of an inch has been removed from the deck of the block. I use 91 octane fuel.
Much appreciated.

It will be fine with some tuning. It looks like a pretty mild cam, good for a street 305 tpi deal

You can keep the '7165 and go to speed density, using $12P code. I used it briefly on one of my projects. I just didn't have enough time to re-tune for the change in code and ECM (I made an adapter to go from a '7730 to the '7165), but it had a lot of cool features, including programmable extra outputs, and a datalog update rate that is much higher than the '7730.
