ECM Location.
ECM Location.
I have an Camaro 82 V6 2.8L. I have a chance to salvage the ECM from an 82 Firebird with the same engine except the salvage car is stick shift and mine is an automatic if that makes any difference. So my questions, would the ECM in the Firebird be the same as the one in my car? Where would the ECM be located in the Camaro and in the Firebird? Thanks for your responses. Don't need it for now, just want to add it to my spare parts inventory.
Re: ECM Location.
Username checks out. Probably the same ecm, but different 'chip'. Under the passengers side of the dash on both cars. Should see one end of the ecm and a couple screws holding in the bracket. Remove the screws, pull it down, unplug the wires.
Re: ECM Location.
Thanks Drew for the quick response. Weather should be warm enough to get it out. Can't believe they gave up on this car, no accidents, odometer has 73k, nice wheels, decent interior. I don't find many V6 models in the salvage yards. Thanks again for responding.
