DFI not communicating with Computer?

I got my DFI today and i hooked it up and it won't communicate with my laptop. I had the ignition on so thats not the problem and the computer was all set up. It just goes to the screen where it says waiting to communicate with ecu or something like that and it just does that forever and ever, never went on. Whats the deal, why is it doing this? if u can help let me know, i need to get this thing running soon so i can move it out of the way.

It sounds like you are using a 6.0 box...

Make sure you are running the MS DOS version 6.22 operating system on your laptop. The older CalMap doesn't work well with the versions of DOS that are provided with the Windoze operating systems.

Yes, i have a 6.0 box and i'm using version 6.32 software. The laptop i was using was a pentium 2 with windows 98 second edition. Is this too much of a computer to not work right? I'll see if i can get a windows 95 laptop to work later tonight.

If you've verified the connections, try measuring the voltage across each com line to ground. You should measure -9 to -12V on each. If not, it's wired wrong or you have a bad com port. Also try a slower machine.

You have to boot up in pure DOS, not in windows!

Has anybody tried this with WinXP? I'm asking because XP supposidly is more compatible with older programs. Most of my old stuff runs way better with it.
