which one would be the best?
I WANT TO BUY HYPERTECH CHIP
i'm on my way to start burning my own PROM's, so don't take this as offense when i ask which one of these hypertech suits to my needs at best? local dealer have promo and this is my chance to get PROM and adapter for cheap?
#128853 Camaro/Firebird vm. -88, 305/5,0L TPI, manual trans 230FIM ~ 35$
#128943 Camaro/Firebird vm. -89, 305/5,0L TPI auto trans 230FIM ~ 35$
#127043 STAGE-3 Powerchip 200FIM ~ 30$
#127053 STAGE-3 Powerchip 200FIM ~ 30$
questions are:
1. which one i can use right away?
2. does hypertech have ZIF adapter or PROM attached as in stock adapter?
3. do i simply waste my money because there's no use for these in PROM burning?
remember 3rd gen in finland is as common as rust free yugo there, the parts are not that easy (cheap) to find.

Using an aftermarket chip is like taking drugs some guy offers you on the street. It just might not be a smart move.
Sometimes they are worth the price just to have the adapter board, especially if your soldering challenged, but I wouldn't expect more then that from them.

It would be nice if we knew what your vehicle is?
Basically, if it's a manual car, get a manual version - if it's an auto car, get an auto version.
I agree with Bruce that if you can get a version that allows you to easily remove the eprom. The stock GM Memcal has a soldered eprom. Many of these aftermarket Memcals don't solder the eprom. You can just slip a small screwdriver under the pins of the eprom and pull the eprom WITHOUT unsoldering. Then it does offer an advantage over the Stock GM Memcal for those not good with a Soldering Iron.
BUT, make sure that it allows for easy removal of the eprom. If you must unsolder it AND it's not an "adapter type" you are wasting your time.
Also, makes sure to look for a recent post by Craig Moates for his "ADAPTER" if you haven't already. He has a "hell of a deal" on some cheap Adapters where you just reprogram onto a Flash Prom (Craig has those too) and just plug your stock GM Memcal into the Adapter for the extra circuitry on the Stock Memcals.

Thanks Glenn. The type of my car is in the signature. In the picture there was PROM directly attached to circuit board, no ZIF's between...hmmm... so it seems to be as good deal as buying stock chip.
Reason I want to have my own PROM is the VATS system. It gave me hard times since GTA wouldn't start. Using spare key solved the problem. I want to disable the VATS.
In order to rationalize the investment required for starting own PROM burning, what kind of gains in MPG I can expect? now numbers are 21/16MPG highway/city and price of the PROM equipment is around 10 fill ups in gas station (4USD/gallon).

Most guys with 89 MAF cars use the ARAP Bin (available on www.diy-efi.org ) as a base for burning. They generally have to "tone down" the spark advance a bit in the main spark table and ensure the "N.O. Fans" flag is set or the fans will work opposite of normal.
With Highway Mode invoked, on a trip last summer I got 610 kms on 49.5 Litres of gas...or just over 29 US MPGs. I typically get gas mileage in that area, especially with a "fresh tune up". I can't tell you too much about city driving as most of my driving is highway.
