Gettin into burnin

I am gonna get into burning my own chips. I am a quick learner but just have quick question for you guys. I want to get my motor together and will be a little time before i get all the stuff to burn my chips. My question is you think I'll be ok using stock chip with hypertech chip adapter, with my ZZ4 engine, modified TPI and XR-276 roller cam. I just don't want it to run like total S--t. thanx for any info guys.

I ran a stock '92 TPI eprom in my ZZ4 s/b for over a year, ZZ4 cam, SportsmanII heads, headers. Didn't run the best. ran very very rich, but did run. There's is much to be learned about eprom pgming and plan to read, read, and read. It's all worth it, I just started about a month ago, burned a few dozen chip and the ZZ4 TPI runs much mauch better, a few dozen more and I should be done with it for my liking.

You must have a laptop scan tool of some sort at the very least to make sure your not getting Knock Retard before you fire it up for the first time, and you'll need one anyway to know what to adjust when eprom burning. Seems most are using Diacom or DataMaster for the scan tool.
