Ok well my first attempt with WinALDL didn't work. I plugged the cable into the ALDL connector with and without the 10K resistor and it didn't pull any data. I guess I have to cut it back open and try doing it all over again.
I have a major question though. Should the wires be a certain gauge?? I bought a serial port cable from Radio Shack with the DB9 connectors and it has 9 wires? inside of it I guess and they are really small. I figured this was ok, but just wanted to make sure. I cut all of them off of the connector and left two for my cable. I'm going to redo it again and see what happens. Expect a post later today.

 

The wiring is fine for transferring data which is what it was designed for in the first place. cheers, Bob
