Fried?
If I put the prom in with the notch (Pin1 ?) facing the notch on the carrier and the large (1) . I get a Check Engine light that flashes rapidly. I noticed this when I first installed it, and assumed that meant it was upside down. (I have a feeling I was mistaken)
If I flip it around, I get a solid Check engine light. Both throwing
a Code 51.
My car is running like a 4cyl right now, no ***** at all. I assume it is in "limp-home mode" (Excuse my newbieness - most of my experience is with 4th gens)
The worst part is, I screwed around with it whiel troubleshooting
so much that I have probably messed up both my original chip
and my new one. (It was hot as hell out there today, my poor Canadian body will never adapt to Kansas weather)
Oh well .. back to the drawing board
Unless anyone can think of something else.
Oh . FWIW -
I read in my Haynes manual that installing it backwards can fry the circuitry in the prom if the car is started. Solution: Replace prom (DOH!) - I had to start the car to get home.
