OK, check this out... I've got the parts for diagram #2. I'm gonna build it like... right now, as I'm typing this. Anyway, I don't understand R3 in that... do I need to wire a resistor between there?

Also, will 1/4 watt resistors work here? 10k ohm... I've got tons of them. How do I figure out how much wattage I need them to handle in this?

PS - I'm a computer geek. I know PCs, and Cars. I'm learning electronics, so go easy on me, as I learn, ok?

 

some ecms require a resistor across those pins to enable aldl mode. just keep one handy and plug it into the aldl port per the diagrams when you are using it. 1/4W are fine. the current is really minimal. cheers, Bob
