Spark Tables
Spark Tables
Unfortunately the search function is down so I can't hunt for my answer. Got a simple question (I think) about the spark tables. I read on one of the posts that the initial advance that you set the distributor to is subtracted from your spark tables. Is that correct or did I misunderstand? If I understand correctly if you have say 27* in a table and an initial of 14* your getting an actual of 13*. Thanks for the help!

The initial is subtracted by the ECM, but it is added back in by the distributor. So if the initial in the bin matches the initial of the distributor it is a wash. No change in the final SA.

It is these types of settings that both myself and Grumpy keep saying: set it correctly and forget about it. Don't try to cheat and set the ECM initial to 4 and the distributor to 8 deg. Yea, it works, but it's not right. Then down the road it bites ya.
This was a good question JAY87GTA.
