Knock retard at idle...
I switched to the 730 ecm from 165. Changed to the correct knock sensor and bypassed the esc. I am using the stock AUJP timing table and the BLMs are at about 130 with tuning the AE table. However the car will stumble at idle and I get knock counts.....just sitting idleing get like 100 or more counts and up to 6 degrees of retard. I have the idle rpms set at 750...
Please help...the mods are in the sig...

The 8746 ecm requires default 10mph, 1000rpm, 50c temp, and 9v battery voltage before it will retard timing because of knock. This actually makes tuning idle timing REALLY easy. All you do is advance the timing at idle until your idle becomes unstable and enters stall-saver. Then back off the timing 2, 4, even 6 degrees to get it to be rock solid. I've always found it best to adjust idle timing with the transmission (if auto) in drive.
What are the differences between the 165 and 730 with knock qualifications? Of how about the 7747?

I was getting some spark retard at idle because of the solid roller cam. I ended up setting the "knock attack rate vs. RPM" to 0 in the 1200 and lower tables and that took care of the knock retard at idle.
