8747 WOT Q's

Ok, I've gotten my idle and my part throttle tuning pretty much done. Now I've started on the WOT tuning, but seem to be having problems with it. I guess what I'm wondering is really how to do it.

I've heard that tuning WOT is based off of the VE tables. This makes sense because when you hit WOT you simply have a table that adds a certain percent of fuel and another that adds a certain amount of spark advance. How on earth do I change my VE table to correct for any lean or rich condition that I may have up in that area (my motor now wants to run all the way to 7000 rpm with the new heads). I tried changing the PE enactment v. rpm table so that the TPS had to be at 100% for PE. However, after driving it around for a while, this seemed difficult in two areas:
1. I can't hit every area of the table, or I can barely hit it in overdrive (by the time I get up there I'm doing 90-95 and there is a huge speed trap on my road right now for some reason). Can I tune that area of the table simply by putting the car in 1st or 2nd (this is an auto tranny) and just spinning the rpm's up to the level that I need to tune? Note: this does seem to sort of work, when I do register data it isn't at 128 like its in PE mode, but I heard that tuning in 1st or 2nd is not good).

2. The other problem is going to involve spark advance. How do I know when my computer is logging actual knock counts or when its registering false signals? In some spots I get like 8 knocks, others I get 20, and in one I always have 222 (I think that may be the test area that the computer uses on initial startup to diagnose electronics).

Thanks for all help,
Mike

First off are you running the 747?

I do all my tuning in low gears, 1st and 2nd.

Also don't get to concerned with getting it perfect at all rpms.

Go drivign , get your blms tuned good at say 2800rpm and under, casue usually any time your above that your in PE mode. I just manually adjust the VE tables and timing.

To make your motor richer at any rpm make the VE % larger. If you need an explaination of VE % justa ask.

Knock.......... There is a nice spark patch that Rrob made for the 747 that stops the knock test.
