ECM Bench and another question

Every day I am seeing more of a reason to have an ECM bench, Just wondering if you can change coolant temp reading anyway?
I am really interested in the effect of coolant temp on PW and cell activity.

The other question, I may have damaged my L1H1 - Any way to test it?

with regards to the L1H1, i think (if i remember correctly) one way of testing to see if it does anything at all is to hook it up to your wbo2 and use a lighter to deprive the sensor of oxygen, and you should see the reading change. check through the diy wbo2 documentation to be sure.

The coolant temp is just measured as a resistance across the sensor, you should easily be able to set up a variable resistor to set the coolant temp to anything you want.

from what I understand things like the coolant temp is set by a rotary switch. I agree that an ecm bench is looking very usefull. This place is starting to feel like da MOB! I just keep getting deeper and deeper in this game. I thought I would just learn how to tune my car. But there is soo much going on(in the ecm). AND I'm the type to learn all I can...

oops - yeah, i guess a variable resistor was a bad term. I think they are usually called poteniometers or maybe rheostat. basically just a rotary variable resistor.

there is defiantely a ton of stuff you can do. I am still procrastinating writing the code that will control my t56 reverse lockout based on speed...

Yes all you need to change the coolant temp is a pot. 10K usually works well. BW

10k pots are good for realtime calibration check by driving and simulating different temps to the ecm.
