A little help?

I have an 85 2.8l mpfi camaro that I like to do all my own work to. It has the 6870 ECM with the 2732 PROM. I've been reading the DIY PROM boards and doing research for the past week whenever I had any spare time trying to learn a little about chip burning, and I'd really like to learn how. I recently downloaded WinALDL and built a cable to start being able to learn the ECM and what it says as much as I can before I do anything else.

What I've learned so far is that the 6870 is the ugly step child that people would probably rather see locked away in the cellar and forgotten. What does it take to upgrade to a 730?

I'd eventually like to be able to tune while running to do the fine tuning.

What components do I need to get? A list in one place of everything from EPROMs to Software in one place would be helpful. I know there are many types of each thing out there, but just basic list of necessary components would be helpful.

I'm planning on buying equipment this summer @ early May, but if the prices are reasonable enough, I'm sure that there will be a couple of my professors wondering why my homework assignments aren't getting turned in.

In order to swap to a '730 another ECM end harness connector needs to be added. Then a general re-pinning of those connectors. The EGR will need to be changed from a vacuum device to a digital device, the MAF removed and a MAP sensor added. Some other general under the hood wiring will need to be changed.

Currently I do not know of a '6870 to '730 repin guide. There is one on TGO for the '7302 MAF ECM to '730.

If I were to keep the MAF system in there what would be a good ECM to use?

The '165 as used on '86-'89 TPI MAF vehicles.
