Question about choosing a BIN
Question about choosing a BIN
I have been researching parts to complete a project and I have a question about BINs
when choosing a bin it seens that you look for the closest combo to what you have (or will have) and use that for a bin?
so my question is this do BINs for auto transmission cars have differences over manual trans cars because of the extra load at idle that the TC has oved a MT flywheel?
OR does the extra programing have to do with shifting the auto transmission? wear the MT BIN would not have this?
maybe the real question should be what are the differences between a auto BIN and manual BIN for the same year same engine car (same series ecm also)
my plans are to have a 350 tpi, 727 ecm,th400 with a full manual valve body

The biggest differences are in the throttle follower & IAC stuff, for driveability, especially during decel. That, and the auto bins have TCC control, while manual bins normally use that chunk of code locations for shift light control instead.
IIRC, there were also some minor differences in a few cells here and there, for low load, low RPM spark and fuel, but nothing major. Also a slight difference in AE fuel, which I'd guess is on account of the difference between the TC and flywheel/clutch. But that stuff is minor compared to the TCC and IAC stuff, and if you're working up your own PROM, that stuff will take care of itself as you tune.
For your combo, I'd definitely use the auto bin as a base. ANHT would be a natural choice, if you're going with the 727 and Vette wiring. If you do use ANHT, IMHO it'd be a good idea to pull some timing out if you have iron heads. For aluminum heads it ought to be reasonably close (I'd still take some out, and work back up, just to be safe).
HTH,
Thanks Dave!!
Any idea about search topics for this subject? I can find a lot of info but narrowing things down seems to come with searching for the right key words??
Again Thanks for the help!!
