Got a new toy in the mail today.

My late model MAF sensor came in. Got it off of ebay for 30 bucks and it appears to work so its not too bad a deal. All I can say is this thing is friggin huge! The opening is about 3.5 inches across. Lot more flow capacity then Ill ever need. Should be interesting to tune it. I dont ahve the tables for this sensor so Ill have to use the BLMs and forcasting to rough the tables in. I cant wait to try it out.

A few pics...

What I did, was take a 3" housing, and cut the foil out of it, and then ran the 3.5" sensor's guts, in the small housing. Had to trim a few locating nibs, but no biggie there.
BTW, they read down low enough that a lil 231 meters fine on them.

Remember you gotta match the freq range of the sensor to the ecm in use.

Im going to be using a frequency to voltage converter so I can easily read it in with my tbi ecm. Seems like the easiest way. From the tables I have the resoultion is ok at low flow rates but it gets bunched up above around 200 grams/sec or so. Ill probably use a venturi adapter of some sort so I can adapt the smaller inlet of the tb hat to the rest of the larger plumbing. Id like to ultimatly make a custom tb hat that has a large 3.5 in opening on it. Should be able to easily feed whatever I throw at it.

These are good sensors now that you mention it. I dont know why people havnt made more headway with using them in place of the standard mafs. Some of those guys running minirammed 383's and 400's could really use it
