Well, I sent the autoprom back. Craig said the emulation part of it was toast. So, being the outstsnding guy he is, Craig made it right and sent me another one. He even let me move up to a USB version. Unfortunately, my current laptop won't support it (even with the adapter card). However, it reads & burns fine off my PC. I should be getting a new laptop within a week or 2, but I may drag the desktop outside just to try the emulation functionality.

Thanks Craig!

You can actually upload your binary to the APU1 while it's in the house, and then take it outside and hook it up. It won't be that 'dynamic' of an experience, but you can test it out at least. It'll be like a very large chip ;^).

Interesting thread since I just got in from observing the fast flashing SES light with ostrich. What I did was this:

1) Open tunerpro RT 4.0 and see it connect to ostrich
2) Load my 4K 7747 bin in TPRT
3) Upload to ostrich and verify successfully
4) Remove ostrich from PC and go outside
5) Hook it up to the G2 adapter which has been working fine with EEPROMS
6) Got fast flashing light

It should work that way, right? I mean, except for the part about the SES light.

I'm considering the firmware upgrade but I don't want to mess anything up. I think I got one of the first ostrich's off the "line". I've had it for about a year and am just now trying it for the first time.

Thanks for any help.

Added: I got all the stuff to update the firmare. It looks like the updater identified the ostrich as Autoprom USB v10.1.A. Is that right? Current firmware is 10.01.A.

That's not a huge problem, but it does sound like Craig might have flashed the wrong EEPROM contents to your Ostrich. Should continue to work just fine (go ahead an update the firmware with the lastest Ostrich version). If in doubt, contact Craig.
