I am working on a car, not mine, that had a tpi 305 and it was changed to a 350 using all the 305 TPI stuff, i.e. chip , injectors, ect. It has been through three mechanics and has failed HC terribly at idle and cruise. Since I have been working on it I have found and corrected many items. Wrong plugs in vortec heads (too short) installed the arap bin but used 20# on injector constant and took out timing at idle, repaired egr, set min air and timing to 6 deg., it was WAY advanced.
Before I go back to the sniff tester is there a particular afr that would work better than 14.7 to pass? I recently got the innovate wb o2 and have that installed. I can use the analog output from the wb to the ecm and set it up to run at a different AFR.
Is leaner better to lower HC's? 15 to 1 O.K.? Anyone use the wb to pass emissions this way?
