Emulators: Ostrich vs. Prominator
Has anyone used both? Likes and dislikes? Is the Prominator compatible with Tunercat RT?
I'm looking to order this week if possible. This will be for my 1227165 ECM w/$32B code.
Thanks!

I have had both.. there are a few things to consider.. does your laptop have a usb port for the 'O'?
The bin switch on the prominator is good, but I still prefer the 'O'. It is quite a bit faster as it only sends the bit that you changed, whereas the 'P' resends the whole .bin. If you are using a 4k bin, you probably wouldn't notice. I use a 64k bin and the speed difference is huge.. The 'O' is instantaneous, and the 'P' took about 10 seconds, making real-time programming impossible. I prefer the 'O'....

Thanks for the reply. My laptops all thankfully have both USB and Serial available for use. I didn't realize that the O only sends the changed bits over, that is very nice!

I've never used my Prominator for RT tuning, and I just got my Ostrich working today.
IMO, they're similiar, but entirely different. I like the Prominator since I can do a throttle lift, and switch .bins, almost instantly, and for doing repeatible back to back testing, or testing subtitle changes without stopping, it's wonderful. The Ostrich, or any other emulator, means stopping to look at data, and think of what it is you want to do, or do make changes.
IMO, it's just a matter of which one you buy first, if you're serious, or get serious about tuning.

I ordered up an Ostrich, so we'll see how that goes. If it doesn't do everything I hope then I'll end up with a Prominator as well. I would love to not have to re-connect my scanning software each time I make changes, but we'll see what happens. It never hurts to have one of everything, right?
