what chip (model and manifacture) can i program the zz4 bin on for a 1228079 ECM

Oh, not real easy, but do-able. From memory GM used a one time programable PROM chip. Would need to use something a little more modern, such as a 27C256 or 29C256 and make an adaptor platform. Some of the wiring is changed around a little. It isn't a one-to-one pin swap such as going from a 2732 to a 27C256.

There should be something in the archives here on what the original chip is and how to wire in a newer chip.

Check the tuning guide book sticky under CCC, there is some info there that explains how to read the chip along with what chip is used. Should be enough to get going.
