Getting started With an Ostrich and ALDL

So I've spent the better part of two hours reaserching and reading....

And for simplicity's sake... is it possible to begin serious tuning on one vehicle with:

1.) An ostrich to tune without burning seperate chips

2.) an aldl cable to log data (so I know what to change)

3.) my laptop equipped with TunerPro

This vehicle is a Typical small cam upgraded, ported stock head stock TPI Intake/runner/injector 350/700r4 combo, using a 730 ecm, and AUJP memcal.

You think that thing would come with directions by now. Read the stickies or the manufacturers site.

Just make small changes and prove the result happened due to your change. Making changes without proving/disproving the reaction is shooting in the dark. Try to understand the problem you are attempting to fix, search for some guidance here and make the change. Again, look for the result. If it doesn't surface put back the value and look at another variable to solve the problem.
Start with the VE tables to get the BLMs in line then maybe add some spark and do the VE again. Once your pretty satisfied with that move onto that off idle bog AE then into PE modes of operation. Keep trying to find out what works best.
You're on your way

Edit: Keep making copies of your altered bin as you make changes. With emulators it is extremely easy to loose track of what was working best as you keep tweaking values.
