IAC parts interchangeability?

Can I take a TBI with the IAC that attach's to the butterflyt/throttle lever? What does the ecm see? One is in counts but what is the one that goes on seperate, counts too?

I'm not quite sure what you talking about becuase the description is a little vague, but heres a guess:

I'm going to assume that you are searching in a junkyard and found a caddy throttle body, with an idle solenoid on the side. Its not the same as an IAC, its just an on and off soldenoid, i beleive it might also be called a throttle 'kicker'. when there is a load(AC), or cold weather, the solenoid is active and bumps the blades open slightly. so no counts, just an on and off function.

if I'm way off here, I'm interested in learning more about what you have there......

I thought I saw something in the '747 dissasembly about enabling one of these. Never seen one in use and I don't know what output would control it.
I'll have to dig through it again and see how it works.

The important question is why are you even considering doing this?

if what you are talking about is the ISC (Idle Speed Controller) from something like a caddy, they are nothing but trouble. they have a nose switch in them that the ECM looks at to know when the throttle is open or closed. they use a DC motor which the ECM reverses the voltage to it to control the idle speed. they were a dumb move on GMs' part to ever use them, especially on a so called high end car.

there was a thread some time back about using a PFI caddy ECM on a thirdgen to have sequential injection, some of what was discussed was how to get a IAC to work in place of the caddy ISC, as far as i know nothing much came of it because they felt that if it was even possible, it would be too much work to modify the caddy ECM to use a IAC for what would be gained.

Yes it is off a caddy and you 2 said it all. I just seen them at the yard everywhere and never seen the thread on the caddy ecm and throttle body. I asked this (as well as search's) but never got much response....nough' said too.....I'll put that in the memory banks. Thanks for the info too.
