Accel dfi
Hi..
I have the oppertunity to buy a used accel dfi and I need opinions. Is it worth it to convert to a speed density system?
What should i think of if i buy it?
All opinions are welcome!

Depends on how much the DFI costs :-)

If you need a new chip and like tinkering with the programming, it's a good way to go. It depends on what you want to do, and what you will be getting with the DFI (and for how much). With all the info on this site, it might be better to set yourself up with the equipment to burn your own PROMs. If you go with the DFI and have questions, send them my way.

on my 85 I messed with the DFI for a little bit and was never able to get the programming down. but now with a littel more programming experience under my belt I may have done better. DFI has a couple of extra features the GM ecm does not have .
Programming a 7730 to the DFI are so very similiar. so its very close. cost comparo
7730 ecm $50
90memcal $45
90knocker $40
wiring and pigtails $25
diacom or scantool. 300-450
DFI usually 400-600 used.
wire harness( or direct adapter harness-BEST route to take) 150.00
DFi software 125.00????
Laptop and map sensor needed for both (map $35) laptop =??? chepo about 100 bucks
opp forgot the burning software for the GM ECM tuner cat is about 110 maybe cheaper . GMepro about 100 as well. the eraser and programmer. so that cost does add up.
Overall I think the GM 7730 is a tad easier tuning . burning chips does get old after 50 or so.
This is just a general outlook . Hope this helps some. now if your getting a great deal on the DFI them maybe go for it . I f I had todo aftermarket I would go for hte wideband o2 setups like felpro of the new DFI
