Have you started on part II yet? By the way to program you wrote looks good!
I have not had the time to try it yet but, I plan on it. I am waiting on santa to arrive to get mine running again.

Dean,
I have been super busy lately. No, I haven't started the article yet. I am in the process of doing a whole slew of things to my IROC. At the same time I am working on a Program that incorporates the other program that I wrote. Hopefully, I will be able to get to it soon. I am just so busy right now.

TC,
I should be releasing the first 'official' version of the program next week. It is designed for $32, $32B, $6E, and $8D bins (any TPI bin except for 1985). The program has a Full Binary Compare that will compare two bins, it has a CheckSum calculator, a Utility to Change the PROM ID, an Air/Fuel Ratio chart that will display the WOT Air/Fuel ratio (through use of the WOT PE RPM and Coolant Modifiers), a view of these modifiers, a comparison feature that allows you to compare the AFRs of two bins of the same Mask, several calculators (fuel injector Duty Cycle, Max HP, Flow vs Pressure, nominal pulse width, and several engine calculators: bore, stroke, compression, cyl volume, cam lift with different rocker ratios, and a couple conversion calculators: inHg vs kPa and temp C vs Temp F).
The program is called HackyStack and I will be distributing it FREE. The long term goal is to have this be a fully functional binary file editor with graphing and 'other utilities' to make our lives easier.

Trax,
Sounds like you have been busy! Are you writing all of that in Visual Basic or Dos? I like the name.
I am fixing to get the latest and greatest V.B. Tech Pro version as soon as Daddy Billion Dollar Bill releases it.
I have done some industrial machine control programs in V.B. but, it has been a year or two. When I did these I had a lot of help from Rockwell ( RS Tools ). I have got several V.B. to industrial machine interfaces to write next year and all of them web based so, by the end of next year I might be getting good.
I hope or I will be out of a job!

The IROC is in the middle of receiving the following 'goodies' ....
1) Upgraded PI Vig Torque Converter ... I went with 3600 stall (#7 Pump).
2) SFI Flexplate (ARP bolts all around)
3) New SSPE TA with the integral driveshaft safety loop
4) Denny's custom 3-1/2" 1350 driveshaft
5) AFR HydraRev kit
6) R&R'd Head gaskets
7) Heated O2 sensor
8) ES Poly engine mounts
9) possibly bigger camshaft
(heck, the entire engine is ripped down - would be easy to swap in the cam that I REALLY want ... 224/230 CC Xtreme roller on a 112LSA)
10) If I can get the money I will also install my long tube headers ... I already have the headers but I need the money for the Y-pipes and for the coating.
Tim
Needless to say - I am busy and B-R-O-K-E

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the Denny's driveshaft? Is it the metal matrix composite model (ie: HD Aluminum)? I'm planning on replacing my d-shaft this spring but haven't decided which one to get. I don't want to spend much more than $200, I've heard of the LS1 shafts failing, and some of Denny's shafts are like $350-450, so I'm still checking around. Thanks.

Greg,
I don't have the shaft yet but here's the deal. The aluminum one is too much money for me too. I am going for the .... ... . darn .... denny's site has the prices removed. They use to post the prices ... hold on ... let me look in my history folder
.... FOUND IT.
Ok. They have the Heavy Duty shaft which indicates that if you can possibly break the shaft then they will replace it for free. This shaft seems to be close to your price range .....
Heavy Duty Shaft Prices
They also have the Nitrous ready shaft which is stronger than the Heavy Duty shaft. This is the shaft that I will be going for. Its also the shaft that Rick Lindstedt will be ordering...
Nitrous Ready Shaft Prices
You want a shaft that is around 44"
Also - credit to Rick L. Here - Denny's said that they cannot deliver the Nitrous Ready shaft so that it bolts to the stock Pinion Yoke (1330). However, Rick found a 1350 pinion yoke from GM that bolts up to our 10-bolts. Its from an Astro or something. I have the PN at home.
Tim
I just ordered the cam and the AFR HydraRev Kit

Hey Tim I noticed you're selling your cam. Pretty much what I have. I'm wondering how you run so much faster in the 1/4 while I'm so slow. I guess those AFR heads make a hell of a difference huh! You dont have the stock TPI on it do you ?

Blade,
AFR heads make a huge difference. The Cylinder Heads are where you make all your power. I am 7mph faster. I attribute 2mph to running front skinnies and removing the front swaybar. Probably about 0.5mph to removing the passenger seat, the back seat, and the spare tire and jack. That still leaves about 4.5mph or 45 horsepower. IMHO, the MiniRam with AFR heads can easily make that much of a difference.

Sorry for off topic. Sound like the right cam for your setup. My buds running the 230-236 in his 86 ta minrammed setup with aFR190's he hit 11.7's with his 383. He was running usually 11.8 with 3.73's wellthey broke so he tempoarily installed the stock 3.42's and ran his best time. 11.73 @116.
You picked out the right parts

Thanks for the info Tim! I went to Denny's site the other day and noticed the same thing, that the prices weren't listed anymore. I'll be sure and bookmark these pages. I take it both of the shafts you listed are steel, not aluminum...

Dennis,
Yea - the 224 cam should do the trick. I picked the 218/224 cam to work with my AS&M Semi-Siamesed Large Tube Runners. But, the MiniRam will appreciate the extra duration. I figured that I might as well swap the cam while the engine is ripped down
As long as the bottom end holds together my 1/4 ET should prove to be very interesting

Yes, both are steel. I believe the HD is 1330 and the NR shaft is 1350.
