Getting ready to buy.

I'm trying to decide what components I should buy in order to program Proms. I plan on getting the pocket programmer, tunner cat, and DataRaceII. But what PROMS should I get, I've looked at Traxxions article and the places he recomend have about 20 or 30 different versions of the 27C128 chip. It is an 165 computer. Any suggestions, does it even make a difference?

SlowTA,

Yes, it does make a difference. List the ones on the site and/or paste a link here and someone will let you know which one you will need. The biggest difference is in the package ... the physical EPROM can be in various forms. You want to make sure that you buy ones that match. I used EPROMs that were marked as 'CERDIP'.

Thanks for the help, I didn't see anything that looked like what you use.

Sorry about that, I guess I can't post an address that links to a keyword search. Anyway I went to www.digikey.com and typed in '27c128' and it came up with about 50 matching items.

SlowTA,

Type in the following in the search box on DigiKey's site....

27C128 EPROM 28-CDIP

You want a 27C128 EPROM with 28 pins in the CDIP package.

Well I tried that and got 4 hits, none of which were in stock. So I tried JDR Microdevices and they have CERDIP chips and not CDIP. Any other suggestions!!!

SlowTA,

The CERDIP EPROMs are what I am currently using.
