by passing the egr?

I am attempting to by pass the egr on my
86 IROC.
So far I have made a block off plate and and sealed it off. But the egr is still wired up. To finish by passing it do I need to take the wire off and ground it or hook a certain resistor to it.

different subject
I am a boke 21 year old college student that loves street racing. I'm majoring mechanical engineering and I am not scared to admitt I'm still a little green about computers(though very willing to learn). I've built a 383 tpi replacement for my old 86 model 305 IROC. It still has the original 305 chip in it, and I'm taking an educated guess that it's not running it's potential. I'm facinated about learning how to calibrate my own proms. I've been looking into it for a few weeks now and have grown more interest in it everyday. Any suggestions will be grately appreciated. I'd like to thank Traxion on his article on making your own proms. You da man!
by the way my engine specs
no smog
no air
no swaybar
all free mods
torque converter lockup switch
battery in the back
262xm compcam (non-roller hydrollic)
1.6 rollerrockers
383 scatt crank
TCI rattler
40 over block
2400 stall rebuilt converter
rebuilt 700r4 corvette statter
fully ported intake and plenum
slp runners
58cc fully ported 1.94,1.50 valves
keith blackmon dished pistons
10.7:1 compression runs on 93 octane
3.23 stock rearend looking for 3.42 gears
stock suspenion looking for springs and 90\10 shocks
adj fpr
24lb injectors
top gun 150 shot nitro kit
runs like hell but never fast enough

There is a spot in the chip that tells the computer to do an EGR check, but I know that it wont always set a code, its a really inconsistent thing from my past experiences. I have a car that the wire for the EGR solenoid was removed completely from the harness, right outa the connector at the ECM. It didnt set any EGR codes, but I eventually got a chip that had the check shut off.

As for your car, what kinda injectors are you running? The 305 chip for sure is hurting you, but if you are running larger injectors then its killing you. I'd start with a 350 bin and set the injector size, and go from there.

I appreciate the reply
is there a way of by-passing with out going through the chip? I got a few races and I'm not equipped to program the chip yet
yes I do have 24lb injectors
they didn't make a 350tpi 86, but I was checking and I'm wondering it would be alright to us the 87 350 camaro bin "I think the set up is the same"?

There isnt any way to bypass it that I know of without going into the chip. An 87 or 88 350 chip will work fine, the ECM itself is the same deal.
