another question about inteface board???

another question about inteface board???
ok i assembled the the interace cable and board as instucted to on http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl8192/8192hw.htm
but how do i test it?or should i just plug it into the car and see if it works? i have FreeScan software, should i use this or try another program?

350 60 over, TRW forged 9.83:1 pistons, crane cam 216/228 .484/.512, crane 1.6 RR's, ported plenum, home made ram air, 19 lb SVO injectors, crane AFPR
(dont worry i am switching to the 89 ECM)
