AutoXray/Diacom/AKMstuff

AutoXray/Diacom/AKMstuff
Hello.
i see alot of info about editors but what about scanners. What do you guys recommend. I see the Diacom for around $300 or the plus fopr $500 (ouch..), or the Autoxray for $200..or the AX plus PC kit for an additional ~$100. Or maybe go with an AKM cable and, lets say Freescan? Would I be able to run the Freescan for the 89 Corvette w. a camaro (86 TPI auto, 165 ecu.)
I'd hate to spend $300 just to find out I should have gotten the "other" company's product.
