Is the performance chip from ed wright a good chip. I have no modifications, i dont need a custom chip. So is this chip any good? He wants 159 bucks. He said 18 hp and 25 torque. Removes speed limiter, i need only 160 stat and 91 octane fuel. It also kicks on cooling fan quicker for better cooling

Let's see, $129.00 for the Pocket Programmer and $39.00 for a UV Eraser. That's only $10.00 more than the Ed Wright chip.
You will need an Editor (TunerCat is $69) and a scan tool.
I am sure Ed's a nice guy, and will be much better than the "off-the-shelf" chips. But it will still be a "forumula" chip. A "formula" chip is a chip that (hopefully) the eprom writer has found to be best for a set of mods on a particular engine.
It won't be 128/128 perfect and you'll have to buy another chip if you decide to make more mods. Ultimately, you own custom eprom written for YOUR engine is the BEST.
There are enough variances from engine to engine that I could have a 128/128 perfect chip for my car. And even though you have an identical car with the same mods an fuel pressure set the same, it will not be 128/128 perfect for you.
Personally, if you plan to leave your engine stock and NEVER make any mods, stick with your stock chip and just enjoy your car. If you want more performance, better gas mileage and possibly lower emissions and you might be inclined to modify it in the future, write your own.
Personally, the only time I would get a "formula" chip is if I have made modifications such that the GM stock memcal will no longer work properly and I was not willing to get into eprom burning and just wanted a "quick fix". You don't need a "quick fix", so I lean to either "leave it as it is" or "get into prom burning".
