Snagged 2 7730's today. Are the MemCal's in these worth fooling with? They cam out of Corsica's, the chip inside the memcal reads:

014
045915
B9411

Is this a suitable EEPROM for sticking a speed density TPI bin on?

I asked that question earlier (using the eproms from a V6 730 ecm for my SD TPI) and I was advised against it. Something about the circuitry for the ESC.

But, in all honesty, I do not believe ANYONE has actually tried it. If you got 2 free eproms, try reprogramming with a 350 eprom and give it a VERY quick try if you are willing to take the risk. But if you notice big time knock retard, immediately shut it down and toss them away.

I would be very interested in you results though. If it works (with no major problems for the ESC), then it would be a new source of GM memcals to "butcher".

Assuming the ESC board on the MemCal is useless, what about the EEPROM itself, could I use a GM 350TPI MemCal with these chips?

What I need to know is if its 256k or not I guess.

If it is from a 7730 ecm and an early 90s V6 MPFI car, yes, the eprom should be a 27C256.

I have,
usually is a total waste of time (several ecms, and several applications).
the eprom is the software, the memcal *sets* the harware.
6-8 means you have to adjust all the rpm sensitive stuff.
You'll get alot more done, by starting with the latest memcal / bin availabe for closest to what you have.
Kinda like setting timing by ear.

As mentioned the ESC stuff will be wrong

Ok, the latest 2 ECM's I've gotten have (1 from a V6, the other, unknown) the (AD)27C256 EEPROM's in them. Grumpy: I assume that the rest of the memcal is garbage, but I can save the 27C256 for my later programming efforts, right? The rest of the chip reads:

16045915
AD27C256
E 5012AC
U942002SX

On the labels, they read:

Delco
ASMJ
0692

and

Delco
ASFH
9505

Any insight?
