How to test for a bad ecm?
I posted a thread yesterday about not getting any code 12's at all when in diagnostic mode, only a solid service light. I also get a solid service light whenever the car is running, stock chip or one of my "ghetto" prom jobby's.
Could somebody send me or atleast post some detailed procedures to see if my ecm is bad?
I'm trying to locate a comp locally that i can use to test in my car.

Brendan,
I am not kidding when I say that the GM manual says to actual hit the ECM with a wooden stick. Seriously ... I am not kidding. Talk about a 'ghetto' test. I am not advising this ... I am only telling you what is in my manual.

All Natural. No Force. No Drugs. Stock Bottom End. Stock Body Panels.
Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.

- Program your own PROMs!. Read my article to get started!
- Research and Experiment before asking questions.
- This is not a chip store. Go to the classifieds if you want someone to sell you a chip or give you a BIN.

Please pardon my ignorance, but just what on earth is hitting the ECU with a wooden stick going to accomplish?

Best to get a spare, that you know is good. To late now, but I'd try another one, and just see what happens.
No code 12 sure sounds like a dead one thou.
