Where is CRAIG MOATES SOFTWARE????
Where is CRAIG MOATES SOFTWARE????
It seems that the link that AKM and all the old posts have, is to a page that no longer exists. I was wondering if anyone had a new web adress or somewhere I could find his scanning software.

Old cable modem was getting too slow for me. Had to go DSL, lost my ISP. This one should be around awhile.

This is a schematic of a simple device that will work well.
TPI383, that was a Diacom clone you posted, probably why the post got Zapped. If you want to do the serial port thing with my program or others like it, try a simple circuit like this one:

Andrew should be able to hook you up with something like that quick and cheap.

I could, but some folks are already doing it. Looks like Andrew Mattei has sub-contracted some of this stuff out. Check out:

Looks to me like 50 bucks gets it to ya, but check with him and let him know what you have.

If you've got information regarding the datastream and request string structure, along with a little time, that might be easy enough. The 747 is real similar to the 730, right? 8192 and all? You could probably mod the code yourself and be up & running in no time. Let me know what the deal is with the communication protocols, I might be able to give you a jump-start.
Craig, honestly, I don't know what half the stuff you just said means, like 8192 for example. I do have a hack of my program and I am very fast learner. There are OUPUT specs on the hack, I remember seeing them... Maybe if I could find a hack of the ECu that you mentioned I could see how you/your program uses it and transpose my ECU program's info into your software...
I'd love to do the changes myself (learn that way!), but as you said, I believe I need a jumpstart of some sort. I have to start by downloading your software and going from there...
Any special hints for me? Is there only one version of your software to download? Where do I start, I guess is my main question...
Thanks for taking the time to help me!!!!!

Check out the documentation file associated with my program to get started. Then crack open the basic file and glance through. All you'll have to do, probably, is change up the way the program requests data and how it identifies the slices of data that come across. Check out ECMGuy's page for some examples of data requests and ECM responses.
You'll need that hack info I believe, unless someone is about to redirect or volunteer it, to identify both how to request data from the ECM and to determine what data structure the ECM will respond with.

Cool. I think I Can do that...
Craig: One thing that I SHOULD HAVE ASKED already is "can FreeScan get the data stream and put it into some sort of file, like Excel???"
Ultimately, my goal is that I want to sort the BLM's by RPM and MAP so that I can use the BLM's to correct the VE table on my next PROM iteration. Sorry I did not ask this sooner but I just figured that you saw my other post(s). I just realized that you may not have... Sorry.
Thanks again.

I don't know, it might. And certainly if it has the configuration for the communications protocol already set up, you could easily use that information as a template to modify my code.
Anyone know of freeware which will disk-log the data for the TBI? How about the datastream & request format? Any volunteers? Now's a good a time as any.

Guys, I've been doing alot of looking around for ALDL connectors for my TBI (8746). It's pretty difficult to find freeware that is compatible with 160 baud. THe 7747 ECM is 160 Baud. I have the data stream for the 7747 if you guys would like it. Let me know. As for the request from the laptop to the ECM I'm not sure of that.

I gotta get something (BLM data acquisition) working pretty quick or I am gonna take this Hot Cam out of my engine like yesterday. I spent about 1.5 hours and a tank of gas (15 gallon) reviewing "movies" on my SnapOn and now my eyes hurt. The HOT cam was a HUGE change from the 194/214 cam I was running and the VE tables have not changed as "proportionately" across the entire VE table as I PRAYED that they might... Oh, well. Learning experience.
There has got to be a better way!: (to "fix" the VE table(s) fast/easy). If not, I want to make one!!! I believe that we could ALL use this technology!
I got BLM on the brain... and the SnapOn wheel imprints on my fingers.
Thanks all, hope we can get something done???

Just finished up on a database program this past weekend.
1) Translate the diacom file to dbf format
2) Run my program
3) Outputs the average BLMs to a database file.
Similar to Glenn's XLS method but I am using databasing techniques. I basically apply various filters (about 254 of them located in another table) to the diacom DBF and then conduct averages which I write to yet another table. Works great. Right now the program is in FoxPro (only app I had on my laptop) but I will be converting it to VB6 and ADO as soon as I have a chance.

TRAXION's 1990 IROC-Z
Best Time = 12.244 @ 112.51mph (1.778 60' / 7.819@88.32mph in the 1/8)
All Natural. No Force. No Drugs. Stock Bottom End. Stock Body Panels.
Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.

CRAIG,
For most of the software, AKM's
cable will power itself off of the RS232 port.
but I see yours don't. is there a way to reconfigure yours through qbasic to change it so it does power up through the RS232.?
Thanks
