auto vs. manual memcals

If I pick up a manual jet memcal as a holder for my EPROM does it matter if I have an auto tranny? I just want to use the aftermarket memcal for ease of removing the PROM. I guess I am wondering if the limp mode would be specific to the transmission type and/or affected by the type of memcal installed.

This is for a memcal for the 165 ECM, 1989 model year chip.

As an educated quess I wouldn't worry about that.
The default for limp home mode on a 165 is Alpha-N, and a very course calibration, but just so happens to be really good in some 165 applications.

Is this a "piggy back" that you plug your regular memcal into? If so, it will be okay as ESC circuitry will flow through. Only the eprom works with a piggy back and you'll be re-programming over that.
