Difference between 86 & 87-88

Ok, I have been reading TRAXION's article on PROM burning and I went to Tunercat. I currently have an 86 (actually a 16198259) ECM & stock PROM in an 87 TPI Firebird Formula. I happen to have an extra 1227165 ECM from an 86 as well.

What is the difference between $32 (1986) & the $32B (87-88)???

the 16198259 ECM was a rebuilt 1227165 ECM from what I know...
