Opinions...AKM cable w/Datamaster

I've been thinking about buying an Auto xray, but the more research I do, this combo seems more like the logical choice. I have access to an old 133mHz laptop. I'd appreciate any comments from those that have used this setup. How easy is it to come up to speed? I really need to see what's going on in my setup. I'm also contemplating prom burning as the next mod.

I'm using a demo of Datamaster with an AKM cable right now. The program takes a little getting used to. The only complaint I have with it is that it doesn't link unless you are recording data, you can't just look at it real time without logging. My laptop really sucks, the one I'm using is borrowed. The program makes me want to upgrade my laptop. Since you have a '165 ECM you could always use Craig Moates' free software with an AKM cable. Craigs' software is really good and it will run on a 486. If you're planning on doing an tuning, a datalogger of some sort is essential.

I use the DataMaster & like it better than Diacom. It does have its little things but they are just that little. It has some pretty cool things like the histogram that is kinda interesting it also has a bunch of calculators that are pretty cool. One of them is the ET & MPH. I ran 8 runs the last time @ the track. all 8 guesses that the datamaster made on ET's were w/in .2 seconds. the last one was .6 or .7 off. I dont advicate it in place of a race track but if you are going to make some changes & dont happen to have a track to make a single run, this would do to see progress or not.

i have been using datamaster and i is a good program other than the fact if you download to a different laptop, you have to contact tts for a new registration#. transferring is not possible, so if you have this program after several years and want to upgrade to a different laptop you had better hope tts is still around, if not the program will be rendered useless. also, No repeat downloading after using the 20 free session. i am looking at ease since my free sessions are almost up with datamaster. the only reason i may not purchase datamaster is this registration# not being transferrable once you purchase the programing.
