where is the memcal

i bought everything to burn chips and now i cannot find where to solder the zif too i am so ******* mad. where is the memcal??

The blue piece is the memcal.

It is in the dash where you would expect the glovebox to be. Crawl under the passenger side of the dash and look up. You should see a whole bunch of wires leading to two connectors plugged in to the ECM unplug these connecters, then remove the two screws that hold the ECM UP and it should fall out. Once the ECM is out remove the two screws that hold the little cover on and you should see the same thing as in the picture above. There are two little clips on either end of the memcal that hold it in, unclip and pull the memcal out. Now remove the blu cover and you'll see the eprom and the two smaller proms soldiered to the memcal.

If you are planning to unsoldier the old eprom and soldier in a ZIF, take your time. It's real hard to soldier in those little holes. Once done check and recheck your connections. Then check them again. I had to resoldier mine three times before I got it to work properly.
