my pre swap checklist any advice=good
Ok all my parts will be ready to drop in next weekend. Probably wont get it done till the next though. I have the pp2 from xtronics and a 8746 ecm I have tunerpro rt and 2 2732A chips. I know that these are the uv eprom, but im not comfortable with soldering and only have 1 ecm so here are a cpl ?s
1.Can I get a EEPROM chip that can use factory slot?
2.Is learning how to tune on current engine a good idea?
You are all always very helpful and I have tried searching as much as I can, but I guess I just need reassurance that I'm going about this right.

You probably have too many different questions to get answers to them all in one thread - but you may luck in

You should have asked "Am I crazy doing this without a spare ECM?". Given the questions you're asking, it's 10:1 on that you will burn the chip incorrectly and find out what it's like to run in limp home mode ;-). You can then answer your own question LOL.
Be safe I'd say.

the closer to stock the motor is, the easier it is to learn to tune.
Lot more issues on modified mills to tame and can bury if u dont go slow.
Throw away the 2732 and let them burn in the pos's that they are.
Get some 29c256 or some 27sf512(i get that right i have stockpiled 29c256 so i dont know) and use them along with an adapter from Moates' wevsite and enjoy fast burning no UV blanking chip burning.

well I am trying to get another ecm found one for about 20 bux and If I get it I will just send it to moates and have him drop in the adapter for me unfortunatly 25 bucks is a bit much. I know how to solder, but don't what to over heat that board and lose money so i guess ill just fork out the dough lol prolly 10 bux to ship 20 bux for ecm 30 for adapter 20 for the chipS = $80 more dollars jst to tune the engine but it will be better than a $50 eprom eraser and 30 for chips lol nearly 7 bux a piece and I dont have to wait for them to erase. Thanx for the info 3.8
