I want to get a prominator, and from what I understand it hooks up to the parallel port, right?
For data logging you can use either a serial port or a usb port depending on what your laptop has and what cable you get from Craig Moates. Right?
I am getting a laptop soon and I want to make sure it has the right ports to use the prominator and data logging at the same time.
I have a 165 ecm.(88 305 TPI for now)
I probably won't get my prominator till summer but my wife needs a laptop soon.
All this reading can be confusing, I've read most of the stickies. Grumpy has a hardware section but it doesn't mention the prominator so I want to make sure.

I ordered that prominator too and bill told me that the cable would come with it. Do make sure of this by sending him an email.

At this moment he is waiting to get some hardware that is backordered from his suppliers. Ive been waiting for sometime to tune my bird. Its in need of a serious tune bad.

The laptop will definately come in handy and make sure to get an editing software and if you can afford it a scanner type tool such as diacom. Its some what expensive but its worth it. Thats what im saving for now.

Do let me know if you hear anything new. Get used to going over those stickies over and over as tuning your ecm, which is what i have (165 miniram 88 350), will be a constant quest for additional information and thankfully this is site is brimming with experience regarding this issue.

I found a laptop that has all the ports, cheap, so I bought it. That way all my bases are covered.
