Datalogging/O2poisoning?
Datalogging/O2poisoning?
I put together a 400sbc with tbi heads, throttle body, and a 7747 ecu about a year ago. I knew I would need to learn how to burn a new chip, but I was pleasantly surprised it runs ok and even passed emissions.
Now I saved my nickels, and dimes, and bought the Autoprom/with tunerpro. I sent in a '8747 ecu to get modded for the right chip. Of course I got this done at Moates, so I know its done right.
But before I start chip burning I wanted to start datalogging so I could learn more about whats happening in the engine.
I couldn't get the TunerproRT figured out, I think I need the AKWA.ads instead of AKWA.bin, so I tried winadl.
All I had to do in winadl is pick the right 7747ecu, but the fields are not populating.
So now I'm thinking its still in open loop and not reading the O2 sensor, and I kinda at a dead end for now.
Then I read this,
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...silicon+sensor
And I know I used silicone on the intake manifold.
So
1. Do you think my datalogging issues could be due to a bad O2 sensor.
2. Which O2 sensor should I replace it with, DENSO, BOSCH?
3.Old ecu is a '7747, modded one is '8747. Can I copy the old bin and use it on the modded one, or should I just find one for the 8747?
Thanks for the help.

most modern quality silicones are O2 sensor safe, what brand & type did you use?
a bad o2 sensor shouldn't stop you from data logging.
i would recommend using an A/C Delco sensor.
im not very familiar with the 747 ECMs, so i can't help you there, sorry.

That means I need to keep looking for the datalogging problem, and quit blaming it on the O2 sensor
If I get that figured out, it will pretty much tell me if I really need another sensor.
Do you know of any good stickies, or threads that deal primarily with datalogging issues?
Most of the ones I've read only touch lightly on it.
Makes it seem sooo easy, so I figure, it must be something really simple that I'm overlooking.
Thanks again

The risks far outweight any advantage of trying to use a questionable O2 sensor.
