Where to start EBL??
Where to start EBL??
My EBL set up should be here in a week or so hopefully!! Im just trying to get a head start on what to start with?? I have a burn1 and some flash chips. Whats better?? To start of with my original bin from my stock prom or download a new file of of someone else or from moates site etc??? How long does it take a newbie to get the vehicle up and running and drivable with the EBL?? Sorry for all the dump Q's but got to start somewhere. I may not understand the Hole EBL ecm conversion yet, but do I need to burn a Prom for the EBL or will it come with a starter version?? THanks for any help on this and cant wait to start tuning!!! My current engine needs it bad!! Even with the mild setup that I have.

Burn1 & the Flash chips is no problem. One thing you can try out is doing an offset burn. The EBL BIN is 16 k in size, if using a '256 or '512 flash chip will need to set up the burn for the top of the chip. The offsets are on Craig's site (also in the EBL doc).
The EBL comes with the BIN to use. This BIN is required to be used as the whole EBL setup is integrated. The provided BIN is usually a decent place to start. Will want to check/change items such as the base timing setting, BPC (injector/displacement ratio), rev limiters, cylinder count, TCC/stick trans, and disable hiway lean cruise mode.
If the injector flow has been increased over stock then reduce the AE & prop gains.
Then fire up the engine and see how it runs. Do some VE Learns, check for knock, adjust as required. After a few VE Learn sessions then check the AE and tweak that in. Followed by general driveabilty stuff. TCC settings, hiway mode, WOT, idle speeds, and timing.

Re: Where to start EBL??
Thanks for the quick reply!! I guess theres nothing better than hands on learning!! Cant wait to get started. So with the 512 flash chips I need to change the offsets differently?? Is there a better chip to use than the 27s512 or will this be an economical way to go?? What style chip does everyone else use?? Thanks again

No issues with using the 27SF512 chip. For the longest time the '256 Flash chip was the only one used. But, they discontinued them. Here are the offsets:

Code:
PROM Buffer Chip Size Start End Start End '256 0000 3FFF 4000 7FFF '512 0000 3FFF C000 FFFF
