Those with 4L60-E's, quick q...
Quick question...
For those who have 93-95 trucks with the E trans', can the transmission skip gears on up and downshifts? IOW, can it go from 3rd to 1st when you mash the gas or skip a gear when upshifting? I havnt had a vehicle with a 4L60-E in a long time, and I cant remember how it behaved.
The shift control routine only allows the commanded gear # to increment or decrement by one along with the associated change in shift solenoid states, but there dont seem to be any time limits placed on it. It appears that the PCM can change the desired gear number every 40th of a second. There also appear to be routines to determine when a jump shift has ocurred.
I just want to make sure I can see the forest for the trees. The trans code is damn complicated...

I know my 1994 G10 would jump from 4th to 1st when I dropped the pedal doing about 35 mph. 3.08 gears and 6,300 rpm WOT shifts are the reason. I recall it dropping straight from 4th to 1st without going into any other gear.

in addition to what Fast said on the down shift, if you nail it from a stop & let off just before the 1-2 shift, it will bypass second & go into third or fourth depending on your rear gearing.
