Can I use a stockish PROM for this?

I have an 86 LB9 motor, it's got ported 416 heads (garage ported) and a 204/214 cam, as well as headers and full exhaust. I've got a full L05 setup here as well as the TPI intake and a 1227747 ECU, currently with a 4.3L V6 AKMH BIN. I was wondering if I could get a stock L05 or L03 PROM and adjust the fuel pressure to even get it runnable. If so, which would be preferable the L03 PROM due to it being for a 305 or the L05 PROM because the injector size is proper?

I'm not talking optimal power, I just want something that will work failry well until I can afford to get the PROM tuning hardware; I'm just trying to make a back up plan in case my Megasquirt II doesn't work, I did some damage to it and think it's fixed but at the same time am not sure.

In a word - NO

I started with a stock tune for my 350, it was actually fairly close.
After about three days of tuning the car drove way way better.

You soon realize that a stock tuned prom does not work that well in a STOCK engine, let alone your car.

I'll chip my two cents in.

Your cam is mild enough that a stock calibration will start and run and drive well enough to move the car around, get you back and forth for a week or two, whatever.

yes, your motor will definitely benefit from tuning. even bone stock motors benefit. we all know that. but it's not like you're trying to run a huge cam here with a DIY single plane EFI manifold with a huge plenum or anything like that.

the easiest tuning path is probably to run the TPI intake, pick up a '730 ECM frrom the junkyard and run a 305 TPI prom. i'm not familiar with any of the TB stuff or the '747 etc., so no comments there. I'm biased because I only use 730/TPI/$8D though.

when i say plenty good enough, i mean that it will start, run, wont blow up or damage itself, and should have no MAJOR drivability issues. sure it might have some AE issues because of reduced backpressure due to the better exhaust (i.e. it might need more AE), and maybe the timing maps can be refined, whatever, but it's going to start and run "well enough" on a stock calibration that you can start from there without fear of damaging anything.
