Help with Lower VE in 730

Hi,

I am working towards getting the 128/128 Fueling for the lower VE table and i am having some trouble. I gather data via diacom then load it up to excel, I have currently locked the BLM to 128 and wanted to watch the INT #'s they are fairly close in the 118-132 range. When i go to make a change i end up making my VE table look like the Rockies!! So my question is Do i make changes to the VE tables as to what the INT tells me and have not smooth VE tables? Or do i smooth out the VE table and live with some variation in the INT #'s and let the ECM do its job with short term fuel adjustment?
Also another related question . When i am at low rpm and low Map and RELEASE the gas and coast my INT #'s go all out to lunch is this a normal thing to see? And if any one has or would be wiling to share a excel work sheet that is maybe better set up than mine please feel free to drop me a e-mail and we can chat. Thank You

Shut down EGR

Shut down canister purge.

Rough in the table using BLM at this point.

U can now go back thru and tweak it using the INT, check the stickies up top for the formula for using the integrator.

When u let off the gas, you may be seeing decel enleanment which would cause what u are seeing to happen.

Re: Help with Lower VE in 730

Use smooth tables. There can be plateaus and stuff, but no bumps.

Releasing the throttle uses decel enlean. At low RPMs it's difficult to get DE right, becuase there's a huge amount of wall wetness at high load, low RPM, compared to low load, low RPM. Decel enlean would have to last for 2 or more seconds after the throttle and load stops changing sometimes, which is just not predictable enough to calibrate out, so just let INT do the legwork.

3.8, and Gold thanks for the reply's

3.8 so i understand you correctly my current set up is using a active EGR and cansiter purge, these would be the reason that i am seeing very erratic INT #'s? Also i have found the formula using the INT with the Locked BLM's it does work well, So the INT #'s are only useful when accelerating or steady Cruise RPM's , once i let off the gas the car goes into Dec Enl and the INT # 's are out to lunch correct??

Re: Help with Lower VE in 730

OK, one more question ,

I have released the BLM's to test and now i have a very close table
134-124 with a cruise of 127/128 I would guess that for most people this would be considered "Tuned" enough...is there any point in striving for the perfect 128/128? engine runs great as is tho now i have a few KR counts to try to get rid of. So since my BLM's are very slightly on the rich side of things
I should be safe leaving them here and not worry about it hurting the cats or causing a loss of perf, Some one once told me that fueling does NOT have the dramatic effect that spark does in regards to engine perf unless it is WAY out there, opinions please?

Re: Help with Lower VE in 730

Perfection is impossible.

If closed loop is on, and it's not chasing it's tail, then it gives the same performance whatever the BLM is.

Cats mostly only get damaged from MISFIRE. Some people don't know what a misfire is when they hear it or feel it, but if you can feel something wrong, don't drive the car any further. They melt themselves to death with fresh fuel and air and some heat.

Spark is important, but close is good enough, too. Try to avoid knock, but a little here-and-there is never going to go away. If you see steady retard or rapid count climbing at a certain load, take it down; if you see a tick or two while hammering on it or messing around, it's nothing to worry about.
