IBM Thinkpad 760XL w/ Win98

I hope someone here can help me out. I got this laptop for free and I don't see a plug for a serial cable? Do I need an adaptor to connect a serial cable to the 3 inch long plug on the side? I want to start datalogging. Thanks.

I have a 760XL and it has a serial port.

Can you tell me where to look? Maybe I just don't have the right cable end. How many pins are on your serial port?

9 pins. It is right next to the power plug on the back.
