Need a dictionary!!

I've been in the third gen crowd for a few years now, I run an 84 in the local bracket classes, and drive an 85 everyday. Now the 84 is a carbed 355, and the 85 is a bone stock 305 tpi auto. I have been reading this diy-prom fourm for about a month now because I want to get the stuff to burn my own chips for the 85. I have read the stickey's and alot of the posts ext, but my biggest problem is I don't understand alot of the acronims!! So I was wondering if some of you more advanced programers could help out.

Some I know:

NBO2= Narrow band o2
WBO2= Wide band o2
AFPR= Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
PE= Power enrichment

Not very many, so can some one help me expand my vocabulary....

Re: Need a dictionary!!

Go to TBI board and check sticky: come in for a free tune. Some may not be applicable for a TPI but most is. That should be helpfull and is good reading.

Re: Need a dictionary!!

yea i seem to remember a post someone started in the tbi board about all the acronym's which turned into a bit of a game of who knew the most arcane ones related to engine management or dirty ones for giggles, makes for easy reading.

if you really want to get ahead, i found a book on how to tune accel's ecm's at half price books for 8 bucks, since they based their system off of the OEM's most of the terms are the same, and they get into some off the finer points of tuning a map system but its broken down as not everyone that buys fuel injection knows anything about it.. there's stuff in there about how different injectors have different strengths, tuning idle, how 02's work, it's like an intro to fuel injection and there's a whole chapter just on tuning tpi! definitely worth the eight bucks!

remember, CYA!

Re: Need a dictionary!!

"tuning accel/dfi 6.0 programmable fuel injection" google that it comes up.

got it for 8.53 at half price books, in person not online.
explains the differences in tuning with fuel pressure vs pulsewidth and alot of other things, the usefull thing is it even has a few paragraphs about cam selection for tpi smallblocks. the only hitch is that every part suggested in the book is accel, however the author lets the cat out of the bag in a sense that if you pay close attention he tells you that OEM fuel managment is more advanced then accel's severel hundred dollar system. at least it's honest if a bit of a parts catalog for accel
