ECM and MEMCAL issues

Hiya,
got some issues with my memcal and ecm,it's in a '91 Cavalier 3.1 i've had a hypertech chip installed on a 7730 $a1 for about 6 years now, decided i'm going to pull it out and go to a stock chip for datalogging ( got a ostrich now) but when i pull the hypertech out and plug the stock memcal in, the car goes into limp mode, tried the ostrich with the arur.bin file, same thing, can't even get a datalog, cause freescan or RT Tuner cannot connect while it's stock or with the ostrich connected, but when the hypertech is connected i can datalog with no issues.

i'm puzzled, if you have any ideas that would be most appreciated

Re: ECM and MEMCAL issues

What code (or codes) are you getting? My immediate hunch is, your "stock memcal" is corrupt and you'll have a code 51. You could reprogram over the Hypertech (unless this is a "piggy back" with your stock memcal plugged into that) then your bin on your stock memcal would be corrupt.

Re: ECM and MEMCAL issues

Hi,
I have had yesterday some equivalent issues but the the PROMInator.
New engine all done the right way (we think) and impossible to load the new code.
Even "Limp Home" mode didn't work with the "eprom" installed.

What I did was to try to pull codes from the ALDL but that will not work, so I tried to crank the engine with the jump wire at the ALDL and the "Limp Home" did appear.

So I suspect that there is a kind of hard reset at the ECM or code that will give you room for the new code. I was working with the 730 ECM.

I hope this help.
