Knock counts, but no knock retard after switching to 6E

Knock counts, but no knock retard after switching to 6E

Ok, 87 305 TPI/5 spd car. Switched to the 6E bin, set injectors to the proper size, set manual trans flag, disabled vats, a few other small changes. I have knock counts, but can't see any knock retard on my autoxray, and can hear the pinging. I replaced the ESC module, no change. Tried going back to the $32 and still knock counts, but no knock retard. I'm thinking maybe the ECM went bad. Any thoughts?

I'm a "newbie" to tuning, so please go easy on me. Searching didn't yeild any answers for me on this.
