I have a spare 1995 Astro van memcal. It has surface mount IC components, rather than what my original 1989 memcal components look like.
It looks like it would physically fit.

Can I use this memcal in my 89 ECM? I would erase it 1st, and then start experimenting with prom burning.

The surface mount parts are probably on the knock filter board. Which your '89 memcal doesn't have. The '95 Astro MEMCAL may be pinned out OK for the PROM and NETRES, however, the cylinder select will most likely be incorrect. On the '7730 this sets up the injector firing rate. Not sure on the '165.

That would be a Memcal from a "427" TBI/CPI PCM. The Memcal is not all that different, the PROM is pinned out the same, but the NETRES is WAY OFF. I tried to run a 7730 on a 350 TBI TRUCK memcal. It worked, as in the information was pulled up the 7730, but the cylinder select values was Kaput. I kept getting a code 41 immediately after startup and the engine would not idle.
